But the guy was beyond arrogant. They had the best backend, brilliant software coders and NO COMMON SENSE. I've related before they spent 2 years developing a sure fire product, and had 47 million in venture capital but they refused to spend 2 - 4k on some stone simple usability studies. Released their product 2 weeks before the dot com crash, their intended users hated the interface, and two weeks later they were out of business. This sounds just like that.

as the dreaded skeuomorphism is excised I'm no big fan of skeuomorphism, but I think it has its place in design -- it can be very effective in providing helpful visual cues, for example. What I think is a bad idea, however, is when it's used gratuitously to embellish and tart things up.
