Meathead:

"Educated" buyers is the key.

However, as an educated buyer, the only reason I have never bought a Dell is because I can't go into a store and play with one.

Dell, IMO, should set up Dell stores in the top 20 markets, if for no other reason than for people to get a chance to look at them, touch them, play with them for a few minutes. They don't even need to be able to walk home with one, but perhaps place their order in the store for future delivery to their home.

I think this would be an extremely smart move for Dell, especially considering their competitor's attempts to move into their areas of strength.

(By the way. many of my purchases are via mail order, PC Connection for example. But I don't buy something I haven't had the chance to try first.)
