I caught them. Sometimes it is important to apologize. Bush did it routinely. The reason they did it is because across much of the ME, something like this could not be done and made public with approval of the government.

Do you have a stratfor.com account? If you really want to know how embassy security is handled, and its challenges, they are a good, objective source for that and other information. Their target audience is businesses operating overseas.

Unless, of course, you are just throwing this out for purely partisan reasons and don't really care about the issues.

Suffice it to say, all security is dependent on Congress allocating the money. They do have a security fund, but it largely goes to the Iraqi embassy and consulates. While attempts have been made to increase the funding, it keeps getting blocked, primarily by one of our two parties...
