And that's because Koreans were never slaves in this country, and have not experienced the level of discrimination that blacks and to a lesser extent Latinos have suffered.
Two generations ago, Koreans endured occupation and a brutal war. One generation ago, Koreans pretty much lived in 2nd world conditions and didn't even enjoy real democracy until the late 80's. Until then, Korea was ruled by a series of strongmen, with the last of them rising to power via a coup and holding onto power rather brutally.

Everyone has a sob story. You don't hear much about the Korean sob story anymore because they pretty much lifted their own asses out of poverty and the legacy of being the stepping stone of Asia. Now when you hear about Korea, you hear more about Korean BBQs, Starcraft, and Gangnam Style.

Hmmmm...........my experience of Korean merchants in LA is that they pretty much screwed the minorities they service. Their products tended to be inferior while costing much more than average. Of course, my experience is anecdotal but I can tell you there was not much love lost between minorities and Koreans in LA, and its why Korean merchants have been forced to carry guns. And not much love lost between Koreans and Anglos in LA County either.......for differing reasons.

Going back to the country itself, the history of Korea is a fairly violent one..........and democracy is a very recent phenomenon that is still not on solid ground. In fact the country had military dictatorships right up to the 1980s. And after the military relinquished power, the Chaebols took over and controlled things through most of the 90s.

Oh yeah..........Koreans didn't build it themselves...............the US military has protected their asses for the past 60 years.

So if you are coming from the perspective that Koreans are some superior ethnicity or race, I ain't buying it........the gangnam bs notwithstanding. They have had their share of ups and downs.......but apparently are very good at business......much like the Chinese and Japanese.

those who originate from Latin America prefer to be called Latinos; not Hispanics.
I like the term Latino better. However it isn't gender-neutral.

Latino/Latina........Spanish is not a gender neutral language.
