Christie is the tip of the iceberg of the turmoil within the Republican party. It begins with Romney, who himself is very conflicted, as evidenced by his changing position on issues.

And then you have all those PACs who are spending their money to prop Romney up. And they are no benevolent folks for if they were they would not object to their taxes being raised. They want everything for themselves. So they will come back to Romney and demand their share/favors.

And off course we have the Tea Party, the neo cons etc.

Christie is a smart man to see through all that. As always he called it the way it is. This turmoil between Christie and Romney is a non-starter. Romney failed miserably to referee between the middle-of-center Christie faction and the extreme right Paul Ryan faction. he failed to take a stand and tried to appease both by choosing Ryan and offering the keynote to Christie. And we know what happened from there.

If anyone disagrees then you need only read the tweet from Rupert Murdoch and listen to Limbaugh's vitriol against Christie.

I would never vote for Christie because of his opposition to public service workers' unions, his preference for tax relief for corporations over middle class tax payers, his public "us against them" rhetoric, and other reasons which don't spring to mind at the moment. But I can appreciate political astuteness when I see it. And he's got it.
