There's an interesting measure on the ballot in Montana: It would declare that corporations are not human beings and would direct Montana's congressional delegation to propose a constitutional amendment stating that corporations are not people and do not have constitutional rights.
Polls show the measure drawing heavy support and likely to pass. Unfortunately it is not binding, only advisory, but
an important step if we are to clean up US elections.
This follows the Supreme Court's recent slapdown of Montana's law against corporate political spending.

The recent Frontline documentary (link above) had some flaws, but is worthwhile. Especially since it features some Republicans who are against 'dark money' and corporate meddling into elections. It also includes an interview with a GOP lawyer who is credited with pushing Citizens United to the Supreme Court. His argument is
absurd and makes the Supreme Court decision seem even more absurd than it does on its face.

As for the SuperPac money boosting the economy, I have seen no signs of that among some of the major beneficiaries.. the TV stations that are running the ads. None of the stations I am familiar with have added staff--not one single employee as a result of the huge money flowing into their traffic department daily.
The ads are also displacing some regular commercials that local companies want to run. But that'll be over
very soon.
