Granted, the morning after an election defeat, angry G.O.P. hard-liners would surely vow to obstruct Obama more than ever. I’m not afraid. Because the morning after the morning after, G.O.P. governors, mayors and business leaders would see where the country really is and finally do what needs to be done: either crush or separate themselves from a radical base that has forced Republican candidates into a war against math, physics, biology, Hispanics and gays and lesbians — all at the same time.

I don't buy it. The moderate Rs have been talking purge of the extremists for 6 years now.........and it hasn't happened. Friedman is a moderate R hoping to reclaim his party. He doesn't seem to understand or want to understand that the extremists claim a sizable portion of the GOP voting bloc.........and they don't want to change. He needs to spend a week on this thread.

A truly center-right G.O.P. would force the Democrats to have their own civil war — the center-left versus the rest — largely over tax/entitlement reform and defense spending. Obama has never fully tested where the Democratic base is on these issues, but that’s coming. The Democratic civil war will encompass fewer issues than the G.O.P.’s, but it will be intense and unavoidable — if we are to forge the Grand Bargains that America’s center-right/center-left majority clearly wants and the country clearly needs.

Now he caters to the myth that there is a large segment of the Dems who don't want to balance the budget. Its not true, They do want to balance the budget.........they just don't want to do it the way the Rs want............at the expense of SS or Medicare or Obamacare. They would much prefer to reduce the bloated defense budget and raises taxes on the wealthiest.

Friedman chooses to ignore these important details because it makes the GOP argument for reducing the deficit by cutting entitlement programs while letting the rich pay little taxes that much less effective.

Three days before the election, the MSM gets off its butt and finally calls out Mitt on his Chrysler/GM ad......after letting him get away with it for almost 2 weeks.

SHOCK: Media Matters Fellow Mocks Mother Of Slain American in Benghazi

November 4, 2012 by Benny Johnson
theblaze.com

Media Matters, the left-leaning media watchdog based in Washington D.C., is prone to employ the controversial and opinionated. Recently one of their senior fellows, MJ Rosenberg, was forced to step down based on a history of harsh, anti-semitic remarks. Now it appears the line has been crossed again.

Senior Media Maters Fellow Eric Boehlert has seemingly mocked Patricia Smith, the mother of slain State Department employee Sean Patrick Smith, who recently blamed President Barack Obama for her son’s death.

“Until I find out anything, Obama killed my son, my only child, the one who was going to take care of me when I’m old,” Patricia Smith said on CNN this week.

Boehlert took to Twitter to comment on Smith and her sorrow at losing her only son,
writing this Saturday afternoon:

The tweet seems to imply that Mrs. Smith has been getting her information from Fox News, one of Media Matters’ favorite targets, and that her conclusion is therefore invalid.

Fox News, along with TheBlaze, have broken a substantial number of stories on the Benghazi cover-up and consequential failures of the administration that cost four Americans their lives.

Others on Twitter also took to mocking Smith’s loss, following Boehert’s lead. Some referred to the grieving Smith as “stupid” and a “poor pathetic uninformed person.”

The tweet has since been deleted from Boehlert’s profile without a retraction or apology message.

Boehlert has recently tweeted that the Navy SEALs “Don’t have guts.”

TheBlaze has reached out to Mr. Boehlert for clarification.
