Good point. And the Office part of the 16GB really shouldn't count as bloat.
No not at all - if we could only see what the code actually looked like, and we apply Anthropomorphic properties to it, do you think it would look like this:

I don't think so. I think it probably would look like the Akira-thing (image is too large to post, so link if provided. Do not look at if you are eating lunch):

Please note : I still have Mac Word 5.0 from when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth.
The install disks consisted of a handful of floppy disks, which are 1.4 MB each.
True there are a couple of useful new features in the current versions but - really now.
At least animals lose their useless appendages as they evolve.

I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic or not.

The full release update to Microsoft Office for the Surface (actually any RT device) is 325.8 MB; I know because I'm installing it right now. :)

It includes Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft OneNote. All are included with Windows RT, at no additional charge.

It needs to be installed, because due to time constraints, the devices shipped with a preview release version. But the full release was available as a download on the day the devices went on sale.

Personally, I think its great the device ships with support for 100% of the top 100 printers, and lots of other goodies, built in.
