Sandy was one hell of a nasty storm. Typical woman - blows in, wrecks the place and then leaves

How did I end up on a foreign thread? I was responding to a post on the football thread and somehow got sucked into an SI wormhole and ended up in a totally different part of the galaxy.

Why do people want to live on shorelines, either rivers that can swell and flood, or oceans that can cause damage like Sandy did? Or from earthquakes that can produce tsunamis.

I like living inland. Can still get flooded if we get enough rain too fast, but at least no ocean or rivers to worry about.
