My take - I believe most Americans just voted for their own demise - financial and otherwise. America just voted to join the PIGS (Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain). We move to the head of that class because we are the most indebted of the indebted countries. Unlike the others we have no Germany and EU to bail us out. This is a heavy financial burden to place on our kids and grandkids. A heavier burden will be Obama's increased curtailment of individual freedoms and liberty. Whether they know it or not, Americans just voted to extend what has already become a, work and profit, hostile business environment. Obama was just handed a mandate to increase - indeed accelerate - our move towards socialism. Those of us who spent a lot of time in socialist countries have seen the sharp drop in productivity and the very low standard of living that goes with socialism. The press has trained us to use unemployment numbers to measure govt success. I read a believable prediction that unemployment will drop short term and create a short and false sense of security. The reason is so many businesses that stay will reduce the work week to less than 30 hours to avoid Obamacare and hire more part-time help. That will devastating to families that take a 25% or larger pay cut. Inevitable tax increases will make that burden even heavier. American corporations manufacturing overseas now have no reason to return. Corporations still located in America have every reason to consider moving to a lower cost environment. What we just witnessed gives solid credence to all our personal and family oriented preparations. Our training coupled with our world-wide experiences gave us a vision not shared by many. We acted and will continue to act on that vision. Some of us already recognize that we can never save our progeny from experiencing the hardship that comes from unbridled socialist greed, and an untamed and excessive dictatorial lust for power in our government. The financial spiral down will drastically reduce our military's ability to protect and defend our country. I still believe that moving out of the cities and getting into a self-sufficient, country-style, lifestyle offers the most promise for longer term survival. uw PS. In case you were concerned about the Obama's, don't be. Hussein's golf game will continue to improve, and Michelle will likely increase the number of exorbitant vacations she enjoys on our dime. Obama's appointees will fare well too. In 4 years they will leave WDC with pockets lined with our gold, handsome pensions and a personal exemption to Obamacare.
