I am amazed at how well the Google app performs. I actually have been using voice search fairly regularly in the last week. Siri is pretty much limited to the occasional text or for reminders.

I'm finding I use Siri often... for just that reason. When I'm walking or driving I'm not going to be doing a web search anyway, will save that for the iPad or the desktop. But for getting little stuff done when on the move I think Siri is terrific. And I think the Google voice search is also terrific, for what it does.

Two separate functional apps IMHO. Apples and oranges.

Hey, I love the "microphone" next to the space bar. I use that in text and email messages in lieu of directing Siri and I am always impressed with the accuracy. It makes me scratch my head that Siri completely misunderstands me saying similar things. Kind of like "stupid auto-correct" behavior. I think we need to be more brutally honest about how laggy Siri is, and how dumb she seems.

OTOH - I am very confident that the management shake-up will result in meaningful changes - even if it requires a bullet to Siri prior to resurrection of a truly intelligent and speedy assistant.
