In the ideal world Republicans would learn that anti-abortion positions are where the high risks are and would cull candidates in the primaries that expose those views. Currently it is set up to send these kinds of people out to get killed in state-wide and national races. The safe position going forwards is to say that it is a settled law and that they would not change the laws here.


Exactly. Pro life Republicans can just state the obvious, that they are personally opposed to abortion, but they recognise there is no support to outlaw it.

Full stop. Any follow ups or hypotheticals should be answered by repeating the same answer over and over...

I think Romney did that, and he personally put that issue to bed, until the Dems tied the 2 albatrosses (Akin, Murdoch) around his neck.
