So why all the wailing about the end of the world for the USA under Obama, if a country like China which is way more repressive and way more centrally planned, and yada yada, is admitted to be doing well. Why should we be happy about moving towards the place from which China is struggling to escape? Why should that be a positive thing? Why shouldn't we stick to principles that made our nation successful? Why the need to abandon them? Think of post-WWII Germany -- the Western part was spectacularly successful, while the socialist East Germany ended up deeply poor and corrupted. ...Only a few brief years passed since the miserable collapse of the socialist East Europe and the USSR -- and we already have people promoting the idea that socialism can be, in fact, a valid alternative to the US system. That's ridiculous.
