Forcing my family to have one child, would terribly reduce my "quality of life". One of many reasons so many Chinese are immigrating to the U.S. Imagine your wife getting pregnant and the first thing you do is seek out a backroom sonagram to determine whether it's a girl or a boy, then choosing to kill the fetus if it turns out to be a girl. All the while fearing the long arm of the state finding out your wife is pregnant. 30 million women are missing in China due to the governments war on women. Then imagine you already have a child, and your wife becomes pregnant and you're forced to have an abortion. Liberals may admire a system like this and believe it provides a wonderful quality of life. I certainly do not.
