His story cracked me up as well. However, I get a giggle every time I think of my friend, who is also an engineer. I watched him log onto AOL while I was visiting. The ads were so darn intrusive it "blew me away." Often it seem that the default button was to accept something.
What a conniption to check his e-mail. Then on the way out it was the same -- this is what gave me the giggle -- his time-tested technique for disconnecting without having to suffer through the ads --

He simply yanks the phone line and reboots his machine.

I asked him if he did this every time and he said yes and that it saved him a lot of time!

If AOL can make 82.5 or 85 I'll be short again. I would have a hard time ever going long on this worthless, customer unfriendly house of cards!
