Jesse Jackson Jr. in plea deal talks with feds, sources say

By MICHAEL SNEED November 7, 2012

Sneed has learned U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., who handily won re-election Tuesday despite a lengthy stay at Mayo Clinic for depression and bipolar disorder, is in the midst of plea discussions with the feds probing his alleged misuse of campaign funds.

“No one has pled guilty, but plea discussions are ongoing,” said a top Sneed source, who said Jackson is still undergoing treatment at Mayo Clinic.

Sneed is also told Jackson, who returned to Mayo Clinic after undergoing outpatient treatment in the seclusion of his home in Washington, D.C., is not only being investigated for allegedly using campaign funds to decorate his Washington home — but also Sneed hears he may also have used campaign funds to buy a $40,000 Rolex watch as a gift for a female friend.

An heir apparent to the beneficence and largesse of the Jackson dynasty, Jackson has been immersed in a cloud of federal scrutiny for the past three years.

In late 2008, Jackson, who desired the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama when he became president, was also mentioned in connection with the “pay to play” sale of that Senate slot that led to the conviction of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Jackson has always denied involvement and was never charged.

“This has been an ongoing nightmare for the Jackson family, particularly his wife, Ald. Sandi Jackson, and the Reverend [his father, Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr.],” added the source, who is familiar with the campaign funds probe.

The latest FBI inquiry into Jackson’s possible misuse of campaign funds began before Jackson went on medical leave in June.

Disclosure of the new federal probe, conducted by the FBI’s Washington field office, was first reported by Sun-Times reporter Natasha Korecki last month.

In 2008, after Blagojevich was arrested, millionaire businessman Raghuveer Nayak, a Dem political fundraiser, talked to the feds. Nayak told them he, at Jackson’s request, paid for two airline trips for the congressman’s “social acquaintance” — a woman named Giovana Huidobro, a Washington restaurant hostess.

Huidobro subsequently told authorities she knew nothing of Jackson’s political dealings regarding the alleged sale of the Senate seat, but she said she flew to Chicago on several occasions for him and that Jackson sometimes reimbursed her for her travels.

As the Sun-Times reported in 2010, it did not appear Jackson, who denied any deal to buy a Senate seat, ever reported the flights for Huidobro as a gift on his House financial-disclosure statement.

In an exclusive interview in September 2010, Sandi Jackson told Sneed about her private anguish due to the “extramarital relationship” with the blonde nightclub hostess conducted by her husband — but they had decided to remain together and undergo marital counseling.

Nayak, who owns multiple outpatient surgery centers, was indicted in June on fraud and tax offenses for allegedly bribing physicians for patient referrals.

Jackson, meanwhile, is also facing a House ethics probe over his alleged involvement in the Blagojevich case.

? The buckshot: If Jackson, a 17-year veteran of Congress, opts to plead guilty to a federal felony — or goes to trial and is found guilty — he’d have to resign from the office he just won with a commanding 64 percent of the vote. A new election would then have to be called.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal last month, “attorneys for the lawmaker recently sought assurance from senior Justice Department officials to not seek an indictment before the November election.”

The Justice Department officials “refused to make such a promise,” according to the article.

Frank Watkins, a spokesman in Jackson’s congressional office, refused to comment on the potential plea deal.

Virginia store closes for a day to 'mourn the loss of America'

by David Sherfinski - The Washington Times November 8, 2012

Virginia's 13 electoral votes went to President Obama for the second straight election, and the proprietor of a store in the south central city of Bedford is not hiding his dismay.

Lyons Jewelers
hung up multiple signs on the windows of the shop indicating the shop would not be open for business Wednesday, including one saying the store was closed to "mourn the loss of the America that our forefathers endowed to us," WDBJ reported.

"Lyons will reopen tomorrow to continue the fight against a president who seeks my demise"

"Shame on VA & USA" read two other signs.

Another played off a remark Mr. Obama made while campaigning in Roanoke earlier this year about businesses and government assistance that Republicans latched onto as a campaign theme: "I know I didn't build this — God did."

One customer did hang up a sign as a response of sorts: "I am sorry you feel this way!!! I do bussiness (sic) I guess I will take it somewhere else!!"

With nearly 100 percent of precincts reporting, Republican Mitt Romney won Bedford City, 54 percent to 44 percent, as well as Bedford County, 71 percent to 27 percent. Mr. Obama carried the state with 50.7 percent of the vote to Mr. Romney's 47.7 percent, according to unofficial results — a difference of about 110,000 votes out of approximately 3.7 million cast.

Hawker Beechcraft sheds more jobs

By Jim Moore
aopa.org

Layoff notices will be sent to about 410 Hawker Beechcraft employees, as the company plans to close facilities in three locations and shut down its business jet production.

The Wichita Eagle reported that 60-day notices will be issued Nov. 9 to affected employees in Wichita, Kan., where the company is based, along with Little Rock, Ark., where the last of the Hawker business jets are being completed. Job cuts will also be made in San Antonio and Mesa, Ariz., the Eagle reported, quoting from a letter to employees signed by CEO Steve Miller and Chairman Bill Boisture:

“While extremely difficult decisions, these closures and reductions in force will get the company closer to what we envision for our go-forward plan that focuses on turboprop, piston, special mission and trainer/attack aircraft, as well as parts, maintenance, repairs and refurbishment businesses,” the letter said.

Hawker Beechcraft filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May, and recently discussed the failed attempt to negotiate a sale to a Chinese buyer. The collapse of that deal was followed by announcements that the Hawker jet line would be closed, and the company will seek to terminate warranty coverage for many, though not all, of its business jets.

The latest round of job cuts push the 2012 total reduction in workers to 1,021 employees in Wichita alone, the Eagle reported.

Is Petraeus Falling on His Sword?

by Fay Voshell November 10, 2012
americanthinker.com

Was General Petraeus told by the Obama administration to fall on his sword? Was the general told he would be exposed unless he clammed up about Benghazi? Did he decide to blow his own cover before the president could? Could it be he is sitting on stuff that would tempt some in congress to consider the president's impeachment -- and Obama knows it?
There are so many unanswered questions.

It certainly is odd that Petraeus's resignation happened several days after the election and several days before he would have testified about Benghazi. It would not be the first time self-immolation was ordered so that a dear leader could survive.

Remember, Petraeus refused to go along with the administration's storyline about Benghazi, disassociating himself and the CIA from the whole debacle. It could be he was ordered to resign. Failure to do so might have meant his affair would be plastered over the media and the mistress targeted. So maybe Petraeus chose to fall on his sword, coming forth with the information about his affair himself and offering his resignation.

Why would this administration target the general, who is widely respected and admired? What might the White House gain from his fall from grace? Perhaps silence about the truth concerning the Benghazi firestorm?

After all, the story of a "spontaneous" demonstration instigated by an obscure video has not held up well, and in-depth answers still have not been forthcoming. But as head of the CIA, the general has to know the truth about what happened, and is no doubt being pressured to sit on it.

But there may be a way for Petraeus to testify. It could be the general is cannier than Obama and his administration thinks he is. There is a chance a court order via the House will allow Petraeus's testimony -- something the good general might even want. Being ordered to testify would technically allow him to remain loyal to Obama and his oaths as a military officer.

But he could still sing.

If he is ordered to tell the truth and does so, the consequences for the administration could be catastrophic.
Certainly conservatives should stay tuned as this unexpected drama continues to unfold and adds to the speculation over the Benghazi debacle.

What does a community agitator need, first and foremost, to agitate against? An enemy. You know, Alinsky’s Rules et al.: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. ...” “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Republicans, with their “kick me” signs on their backs were a natural.

But why would an American President spend his days agitating instead of working with Congress and business leaders to build up the economic sector, or develop meaningful bipartisan tax reform to stimulate business and jobs? The answer, as they say, is complicated but has been well chronicled.

The short answer is that Barrack Obama isn’t like other leaders. Where previous presidents – some more misguided than others – attempted to encourage economic growth through the mechanisms of capitalism and free markets, hallmarks of American democracy, this President does not. The “one we’ve been waiting for” to “fundamentally transform America” is committed to quite a different economic model: social justice. This “spread the wealth around” because “at some point I do think you’ve made enough money” system of redistribution has far more use for government than it does the private sector, and Obama governs accordingly.

If you think social justice is just a fringe element of extreme left wing politics you are partially correct. It is extreme, but fringe? No. Not anymore. If you think otherwise I suggest that you take a closer look at the handbooks, curricula and syllabi from the colleges and universities you hope to send your kids to. You’ll discover that not only is social justice an inherent theme in multiple liberal arts programs, but in the schools of education and social work/welfare it is a primary element:

Here is how it is defined by the Berkeley School of Social Welfare:

Social Justice is a process, not an outcome, which (1) seeks fair (re)distribution of resources, opportunities, and responsibilities; (2) challenges the roots of oppression and injustice; (3) empowers all people to exercise self-determination and realize their full potential; (4) and builds social solidarity and community capacity for collaborative action.

And any curriculum where you find “social justice” you will find its companion piece “community organizing.” This definition, compliments of the University of Wisconsin:

Community organizing is the process of building power through involving a constituency in identifying problems they share and the solutions to those problems that they desire; identifying the people and structures that can make those solutions possible; enlisting those targets in the effort through negotiation and using confrontation and pressure when needed…”

Nor does this social justice indoctrination begin at the university level, but I’ll get into that more tomorrow. For now just recognize the natural affinity of the two: social justice provides the objective (i.e. redistribution of wealth) and community organizing supplies the tactics, ala Alinsky’s Rules. When these two strains of sociopathy were allowed to mate they mutated into a rather virulent strain of political philosophy that is deeply embedded in Barack Obama’s DNA. Treating this type of political mutant like an average political foe is like treating cancer with “the pain killer.”

You’ve been warned.

TOMORROW: Know Thy Enemy, Part I

Barack Obama did not bring us to this first circle of hell on his own. He was aided and abetted by 1) an education system with a relentless propaganda agenda, 2) a media oligopoly that has completely abrogated its First Amendment responsibility and 3) a celebrity dominated culture that is largely a product of the first two.

AFP News ^

Washington is weighing expanding support for Syrian rebels by having the Pentagon take charge of arming the opposition instead of a clandestine effort by the CIA, officials said Wednesday.

"It's under consideration," said a US official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

"If and how (it would be done) are both questions being discussed," the official told AFP.
