i remember back when mobil moved out of nyc around 1978. two choices dallas tx or fairfax va. big internal study and the end result............ move to fairfax , get closer to congress. vs having kennedy's etc attack big oil. i assume that is the major reason why any corporation would relocated to the washington area. I have not been back since 1980 and it was getting crowded then.

oh, exxon is closing the facility in fairfax and consolidating in tx.
