I wish I was an old fart too, so I could just go join Bill and dance the rest of my life away, and say screw it. I've got another 30 years of seeing America go down the tubes before I can retire (if I can retire).
As a soon-to-be old fart, I encourage you to keep working (your wife too). It's great for self-esteem!
