On October 3, and again on October 10, it was announced that there was a substantial increase in refinance activity, with a resultant increase in prepayments. Analysts are now predicting (as of October 17) that refinancing (and the resultant prepayments) will continue well into 2013. Certainly not very good news for mREITs - indeed, there has been little news that has been encouraging to investors in this once-high-yielding sector. seekingalpha.com
