AT&T's WorldNet VPN ready for action
From Network World 12/1/97
The service will let business customers set up a secure, IP-based VPN over AT&T's Internet backbone.
For dial-up customers, Worldnet VPN supports Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service and Challenge Handshake Protocol.

For dedicated access customers, the service supports TCP tunneling.

Early next year, AT&T will beef up its tunneling support with Point-to-Point tunneling protocol and layer 2 tunneling protocol. The protocols work in conjunction w/ a range of client devices & SW from Cisco, Ascend, and Microsoft. By the end of 98, AT&T also will support IP security tunneling that uses digital certificates.
