There's something else going on
Always is, right?

And most usually we never hear the real truth.

fellows and gals, the cia and/or fbi knew about the affair with the biographer before petraeus left afghanistan for the cia director job in 2011. you can bet all this was known, and just waiting for obama and his white house to pull the string to protect themselves just in case. we know petraeus would have gotten a complete interview under oath by cia interrogators before he got the cia job. i would assume the fbi likely found out about this several quarters ago if not all the way back into 2011. i think petraeus resigned to get the white house people off his back about any kind of blackmail, and i expect him to testify before the house oversight committee (perhaps in closed session). if he pleads the 5th amendment under subpoena instead of testifying truthfully, do not discount that he might shoot himself sometime. so don't be surprised. after all how could he be charged with any civilian crime.
