Let's take a step back and look at this Obama's statement from the point of view of someone who lives off the so-called transfer payments. If Obama is wrong, then the recipient is simply living off the fruits of the labor of others. But if the statement is right, and "we are all in this together" - then, forcing the "lucky" individuals to share more of their wealth is only fair.

If the only tool you have is a hammer, most problems begin to look like nails.

People often complained that Obama was dividing the nation. Yeah, he was - but in a way that would bring to his side as many voters as possible. He wasn't simply dividing -- he was reminding his followers on which side their bread was buttered.
