As far as I know this is "new stuff." The news is definitely worse than what I know to have been put out previously by WDC. I guess the transition to MR is a lot worse than expected. I read previously that WDC was still expecting the number of units sold to increase this qtr over last qtr (Sorry, I can't recall the figures). My uneducated guess is that they are getting rid of their TFI disks at a low price and also they are experiencing higher start-up costs than expected with their transition to MR.

I just read this on the DD forum. Mark seems to be fairly knowledgeable about the dd industry. He brings up some good points.
