It was because the right wing has been beating dems over the head with pornographic patriotism for many years. The dems voted to give Bush an OK out of fear of losing their next election. Only two people voted against the tonkin gulf resolution: Greuning and Morse and both lost their next elections. Hillary and ther rest know that history. Not a good excuse, but neither is calling the other party unpatriotic. The right wing has always pushed the dems into a corner using the patriotic issue---and lower taxes. Now you can go through life talking bullshit, or you can try and understand things in a sophisticated manner. Bullshit is no way to live ones life!
