Could be that a Mac Pro would, have you tested it on your gal's Pro?
It's running right now so I can't test it but gal says it does not charge via USB when it's shut down. Says so for certain cause her iPhone stops charging when she shuts the Mac Pro down.

Turns out - from what I've googled up - that most (if not all) desktop PCs do indeed keep delivering power via USB when turned off, much to the chagrin of some users, whose mice and stuff keep glowing even after shut down. Yes, there is a work-around for that:

For me, it's a plus I never dreamt of: charging my stuff via USB even when the hack is off is a lovely surprise. :-)))
