LOL! ... lol ... No, she didn't. However, in her defense on that particular observation, I have to say it would have been impossible. Unlike lake craft, canoes don't generally have ropes or life preservers available to toss on board. What we did was ride the rapids on our backsides bumping into some pretty large boulders along the way, and yes. It hurt. (a little) When we finally, ... finally reached a slow water pool, (It was a very long straight run of fast water!) I pushed the canoe and Trey pushed the ice chest to the beach. Then we flipped it and got back in. The whole trip took about 6 hours. There were 3 canoes in our party. Everyone turned over at some point. However, it was so much fun, the next day we went back and did it again. That was a mistake, too. It rained again, on us while on the river. The river rose some more, and even though my canoe didn't flip over that day, we all had to take shelter on the bank in a deluge of rain twice. Imagine 6 people, already wet from being rained on, huddled under 3 upturned canoes for shelter, on the bank of a rising river with the wild woods on one side and a rising cliff on the other with torrents of water coming off the cliff due to the ferocity of rain.
