Jm,

I set a target to sell with a profit that I'm comfortable with otherwise I use uptrend lines to determine when to exit if the target is not reached. When the price goes below a trendline, that trend is broken. Normally a stock with an uptrend has more than one uptrend line going back. I pick one that I feel is reasonable. if there are 3 or 4 lines on it, I often go back 2 of them. I have stated all this several times before. Also, the longer the chart you use, the better the idea you get as to what's going on with a stock and which line to use.

RT (Relative Timing): AMVC has an RT rating of 1.30. On a scale of 0.00
to 2.00, an RT of 1.30 is excellent. RT is a fast,
responsive, short-term price trend indicator. It analyzes the direction,
magnitude, and dynamics of a stock's price behavior over the last
13 weeks; then reflects and projects the short-term price performance of the
stock. Once a stock's Price has established a strong trend,
it is expected to continue that trend for the short-term. If the trend
dissipates, RT will gravitate towards 1.00. Should the price change
dramatically, RT will notice the crucial turning point. When warranted, it will
explode from a Price low and dive from a Price high.

All stocks are rated on a scale of 0.00 to 2.00. If RT is above 1.00, the
stock's Price is in an uptrend. Below 1.00, the stock's Price is
in a downtrend.

VST-Vector (VST): AMVC has a VST-Vector rating of 1.01. On a scale of 0.00 to
2.00, an VST of 1.01 is fair. VST-Vector
solves the dilemma of balancing Value, Safety and Timing. Stocks with high RV
values often have low RS values, or stocks with low
RV and RS values have high RT's. How can we find the stocks with the best
combinations of Value, Safety, and Timing?

The classic vector formula (square root of the sum of the squares) handles this
problem. It combines a set of forces into a single
indicator for ranking every stock in the VectorVest database. Stocks with the
highest VST-Vector have the best combinations of Value,
Safety and Timing. These are the ones to own for above average capital
application.

GRT (Growth Rate): AMVC has a GRT of 19 % per year. This is very good. GRT
stands for forecasted Earnings Growth Rate in
percent per year. GRT is updated each week for every stock. Watch GRT trends
very carefully. If the GRT trend is up, the stock's
Price will likely rise. If the GRT trend is down, the stock's Price will
increase more slowly, cease to increase, or subsequently fall.

Recommendation (REC): AMVC has a Buy recommendation. REC reflects the
cumulative effect of all the VectorVest parameters

working together. These parameters are designed to help investors buy safe,
undervalued stocks which are rising in price, and to avoid
or sell risky, overvalued stocks which are falling in price.

COMPANY OVERVIEW: here's lookin' at ya!

Advanced Machine Vision Corporation, (Nasdaq: ARCCA, or AMVC after 7/1/97) is
a designer and
manufacturer of high-speed defect-detection and sorting systems, based in
Medford, Ore. A significantly
revised senior management team was recruited in 1994, who refined the
Company's focus from its former
"technology holding company" orientation to its current vision-systems niche,
as reflected in the recent name
change. Applications for the Company's sorting equipment include: food
product sorting, tobacco leaf
inspection, plastics separation and/or color monitoring, and wood chip
sorting. At present, the food processing
applications make up roughly half of the Company's sales.

With the acquisition of Eugene, Ore.-based Ventek, ARCCA intends to pursue
several applications in the near
term for the forest products industry that should increase yields and improve
the quality of plywood products.
By combining its camera and inspection technology with Ventek's hardware
platform, the Company believes it
can continue building market presence not just in defect detection, but also
during several stages of the veneer
manufacture process. This strategy is indicative of ARCCA's overall goal to
leverage its vision technology into a
variety of industrial applications, diversifying its exposure to industry
cycles and expanding the potential
customer base.

Don't forget that the recent stock & warrent buyback, reduction in long term
debt
could mean something else - POSSIBLE MERGER.
A potential merger partner could be directing AMVC what to do to improve
balance sheet
prior to merger.

We interrupt this report for a comment from someone that uses automated technology from AMVC's sector:

To: Tiric

Doug,
Thank you for the recommendation on AMVC. I like the product. We actually have one in our factory that scans lumber for defects. we use this technology to scan lumber to obtain the best possible yields. What an improvement on yields.

And now back to our previously scheduled report.

AMVC The Chart (A brief TA)

After breaking a major downtrending line of resistance and moving off the retest on heavy volme, AMVC has now created a base on base chart formation. This formation, when broken out of, typically yields dramatic results.

The Technicals:

SMI is moving to bullish levels. A downtrend in the 2,1,2 SMI in now broken with the intermediate-term strong and turning up. This gives support to a positive supply/demand dynamic.

There is an optimal crossover in the 89 day MA/MLR. As you all know, I like this situation as an indicator looking out several months. If you pick your spots on it, AMVC will overall trend up and have good buying (and selling) opportunities during the short-term.

Bollinger Band activity is positive.

Moving Average activity is positive. MACD is nice too.

MoneyFlow, PVI/NVI and Accumulation/distribution stuff is positive.

RSI activity is positive.

Stochastics activity is positive.

Short-term target 3 5/16......Intermediate target 4 1/2.

TA score 51
