Totally agree with you about leaving particular religious tenets out of a political platform. It's unrealistic in the 21st Century. There nothing wrong with opening the convention with a prayer and mentioning how God has showered the USA with riches, etc but it seems downright unAmerican to specifically list certain religious beliefs that naturally are not shared by all voters. Labels are also important and I believe it's true that Grand OLD Party has a negative connotation. Need to find a label that is more inviting for young voters.
