obama says he wants to raise taxes on rich - incomes over $250,000 - so they pay their fair share. he says there will be three dollars of spending cuts for each dollar of taxes. but spending will increase. the cuts are from still greater projected spending increases. we have enormous debt - $16T - but there are much more unfunded liabilities. the american people do not want to pay taxes, pay for health care, pay for education, pay for retirement, pay when disaster falls. they do not want to give up "freebies". politicians promise what american voters want.
