That's right.........there is no introspection with wingers. White makes might. They see absolutely no reason to change............which may in the long run be good for the country.

Al, I haven't read the book, but I would disagree with the notion that the Republican Party is indeed "too extreme."

The popular perception is that the Republican Party is too extreme, and that is ultimately the responsibility of the GOP to fix. But the GOP is no more extreme than Obama is a ultra left-wing radical.

That's why I say Obama couldn't have asked for a better gift than the compliance of the mainstream media. They helped shape that perception, and the results are obvious.

The GOP has to address that problem or face permanent irrelevancy. And addressing it doesn't mean whining about it, because the mainstream media will always be what it is, i.e. a reflection on what popular culture is moving toward, for better or for worse.
