Since the law doesn't go into effect until 2014, I had mistakenly thought we wouldn't start seeing these cutbacks before then.

However, it makes sense for them to begin now. Full-time employees who have their hours cut are, in most states, allowed to quit the job and go on unemployment, which is of course charged against the employer. So, by beginning in January, they have a full year of attrition which will go a long way in eliminating the number of people who would fall under the law.

Wonder how long it will take for unemployment to get back over 10%?
