Did you run CCleaner or some such program earlier? After downloading their newest version I did, and right after couldn't bring up certain attachments. I had to go in and restore some default settings; then everything was ok. Seems a few years ago, someone, I think it was The Cow, showed the boxes he checked when running CCleaner. Those were the settings I always used and everything was always ok, but I guess the newer version had some default boxes checked, and I didn't verify. Now I'm not sure which boxes might be the culprit. :o(

I had similar problems, now fixed:

I deleted ALL cookies and saved passwords for all sites, wow that was that a lot of work signing into all those sites again. That seemed to fix it for me. It was strange, never had that problem before.

Make sure when you close FF it does not clear cookies.

Tom,

My respond will probably not address your question, sorry, don't know the answer, but I do have a tip for you.

I suggest that you install Lastpass it is free:

lastpass.com

It will remember (and create if you wish so) all log-in's and passwords.
It works across several browsers, so if you logged somewhere through Firefox, you will later be able to do the same with IE or Chrome.
Lastpass is more secure. If some hacker get access to your computer (s)he will be able to extract your passwords stored in browser password manager. But will not get them from Lastpass.

When you install it, it will gather and import all passwords from major browsers. Then you need to choose that those passwords gets deleted from browsers and just use Lastpass. I can't recommend it enough.

Btw, this can also solve your problem, if you have stored passwords in Firefox browser, Lastpass will get (recover) them for you...
