Depending on the type of phyto-plankton one wishes to populate, Iron sulphate and a mixture of other elements, such as silica, are necessary to ensure that carbon is sequestered as Diatom "marine snow".

This is another reason that I think mixing the Iron Sulphate in with bunker fuel may not be a good idea..

Additionally, to ensure that the diatoms either die and sink, or are "grazed" upon by marine life, I have suggested that the mixture include Salp polyps, which feed on phyto-plankton, and their feces carry the consumed carbon to the ocean bottom..

Those polyps would be likely killed if mixed in with a heat source.
