Now, to be fair, Zitel's share has only drop slight since Feb '96, when this thread was started. So what if Zitel manage to profit greatly from its ability to call the market (they mention the intention to sell securities in a filing a month before the rise to the still-reachable $70)?

Looking deeper, Datametrics drop in income can be a coincidence (what's the faster way to become a millionaire? -be a billionaire and invest in the airline) and can come up with some much-needed revenue for Zitel and its subsidiaries.

A slide from $70 to current levels, in fact, can be attributed to untimely shareholder expectations which unfortunately, cannot be met at this time because the rest of the world is too worried about making profits than a major computer catastrophy.

With Zitel share price rising, there's speculation that perhaps the company is worth as much as what the directors exercised the options at, now isn't that a great line for a broker to a potential investor of Zitel or what?

With only $100,000 ($200,000 with margin) shorted at $70 and increasing your holdings at optimum intervals (I'm putting the finishing touches to a small program that will calculate that), one can potentially make $5.3 million, if you buy to cover at around 0. That's 5300%, a profit that can be factored over any period of time and still be money well spent.
