Hi longnshort; You're right. Not only do you need an ID to use a check (much less cash one) at a Walmart, the local one here was nasty and wouldn't accept a "walker's license", i.e. a driver's license issued to people who don't drive.

It's crazy to somehow imagine that Walmart would cash checks without ID. Faking checks is absolutely trivial. Or you can close your bank account. If Walmart cashed them they'd be stuck with the loss because the bank won't pay them back.
