Slacker,

I was thinking the same thing. I took a flier on some March 700 options. I figure that will be after the january earnings and we should see some price appreciation if the earnings are where I think they will be.

The only other thing would be if they talked about an Apple branded TV or if they decided to do a stock split(either of which I don't find very likely). Either of those things could be a big deal. I will add if Apple decides to talk about sales of their new lineup in a positive light that might stem the tide but will probably some good news to turn the share price northward again.

Just my 2 cents though. Good luck.

Neal

It seems every and all upticks for apple are met with big blocks of sell orders. It seems many institutions continue to sell. I have no information other then watching the volume trades when apple starts to move up.

Huge volume at 11am, more than 1/2 of a day an hour and a 1/2 into the day. This is all institutions. The questions is, when does it stop. I'm certain when it turns it's off to the races, but not sure how much you can hold through days/weeks like we have experienced.

Downside targets in the middle of a correction are no different than the analyst upside targets during a climb ... but like we were hearing $800+. It's just the thing to do. Gap filling as a TA play can be played but it does not dictate price action. It's just the first place that technicians head to when looking for support.

Everyone needs to relax and understand that we are in the middle of a major financial situation right now as we head into the end of the year. No new president, fiscal cliff worries, taxation issues (same thing), capital gains, flagging economy, etc. etc. THere are a TON of sell side catalysts here. I see very little upside catalyst now into the end of the year if the fiscal cliff discussions are not resolved soon.

Hedge funds and all ohter money managers are rebalancing and taking gains into the uncertainty.

When the volume turns around ... it will make for a nice trade once again and an nice opportunity for long term holders to add some at a 25% reduction in price.

What is the length of time before a seller can repurchase a security without canceling the tax benefit of selling? It seems that would be a key metric to remember in anticipation of AAPL's certain to happen reversal.

I used to know, but I've just been trading tax deferred for the last 6 years or so.
