Good counter points, J.F.

The point I was trying to make about the upgradeability of iMacs was directed at the new ones. The 21.5" iMac is going to come with 8GB standard memory, upgradable to 16GB at purchase, and a 1TB hard drive which can be ordered with the Fusion Drive. That is really good! Few people would want or need more than that. They are only 512MB on the graphics card, but that is consistent with the smaller monitor.

I just don't see where this obsession with upgradeability for some people comes into play. Also, if Apple starts taking used iMacs as trade ins at a reasonable price, the upgrade argument is moot. The only consideration then is customizability.

And, look at the connectivity! I don't see the user being constrained in capability at all by the closed architecture.
