I can't decide why they can't get the concept you outline up above. It is part of the alternate reality they have crafted for themselves. It has certain core beliefs, like Keynesian economics doesn't work, climate change is a hoax, evolution doesn't occur and tax cuts result in revenue increases every time. Like Adam Savage on Mythbusters says "I reject your reality and substitute my own". And it is reinforced with their alternate media. Between Fox, WND, talk radio and their blogs the same stuff gets repeated and gains an air of legitimacy. Which wound up hurting them in the last election. There were running against an Obama who didn't exist based on issues that were imaginary. And we see the results here.
