One of the dems in our social group was the commissioner of prisons in our state (her husband was the commissioner of H and SS and also head of the state Democratic party) and her deputy was a leading bleeding heart liberal, social organizer (legislator) and close friend. She told us how corrupt and scary prisons were in other states. Our prisons are very humane. Well, they were before the pubs took over 30 years ago. Don't know about today? Naturally the pubs want to privatize prisons which is scandalous.
