There was an immediate kill zone of almost 100 square miles around the rig. That area has increased greatly and the oil isn't degrading significantly. Dolphins and whales continue to die at twice their pre-spill rate. An estimated 20% of the juvenile bluefin tuna have been wiped out. Mutated crab, shrimp and fish are being caught at an elevated rate. And the fisheries still haven't recovered to pre-spill levels.

Deep sea corals are dying.
