The benefits of the NC really have little to do with hardware and everything to do with software, IMO. That may seem a bit radical, but time will prove it to be substantially correct. In fact, I would go so far as to say that the differences in cofigurations between PC and NC buisness appliances is largely an artifact of the networked software paradigm versus a explicit goal of NC hardware to say, eliminate the hard-disk. Two key factors are scaleability of both hardware and software combined with remote management. Another often missed feature is that the applications designed and written for Java can be vastly superior to those using Microsoft's archaic, brittle, unsecure, needlessly complex, poorly designed and poorly implemented COM architecture. However, as Corel demonstrated, incompetent software developers will not be saved by Java.
