At the end of her life she was on medicare and social security, two programs she disparaged her entire life, and had been a speed freak for most of her life.

Hypocrite.

No. Not hypocrisy. Rand had, for years, maintained that people who put money into SS & Medicare should make every effort to get it back. She would have been a hypocrite to not do just that.

I am adamantly opposed to both programs but I've put plenty of money into both. I am at least entitled to receive back what I paid in plus reasonable earnings on it.

It is interesting that attacks on Rand are so often personal attacks, rather than attacks on her ideology, which is pretty hard to argue against.

But you're pretty well known for not being able to make a coherent argument anyway.

Ayn........who rationalized her venal personality

You're partially right. Some of her personal behavior was reprehensible and her objectivist nonsense was an extension of defects in part of her analysis.

That doesn't detract from her astonishing ability to illuminate the differences between the productive and the parasitic. Rhetoric from the vermin in ascendance mirrors the dialog she put in her villains mouths.
