Just wrapped up the data we gathered from the air on retail shopping activity over the Thanksgiving weekend time frame. This covers seven very large malls in Connecticut and Mass.

Compared to last year, Friday was less than, Sat was even with up to 10% better at the most recently opened locations (curiosity). Sunday was another rain day and not exceptional. Can't speak for the actual buying that took place inside the stores as we monitored the traffic and facilities performance, but Telecheck's numbers just released of + 1% over last year seems to fit our work. Friday's rainy washout in New England and the previous four weekends which had rain certainly contributed. Saturday's weather was exceptional but there wasn't a massive rush to make up for lost shopping time.

Given the lower interest rates, home refinancing and new housing starts.. my guess is that appliance and other durables will show well.
