I honestly don't know what shape it will take but my instinct is along the lines you mentioned. My view is based mostly on the concept that there is no free ride and we've been riding free for a very long time and the toll is going to have to be paid.

Theoretical Socialism will once again for the umpteenth time meet practical socialism and that will mean no hope, no freedoms and no pride in achievement and a dependency on stealing from somebody else to keep the whole decrepit structure afloat.


A straight line analysis, extrapolating, leads to this and I am concerned that this is exactly what will happen, history is on your side in this. However, I also hope that it will not be a straight line in this case, that something(s) will change to deflect that. It is a dimming hope to be sure, I would have thought our generally rebellious bent would have asserted itself by now. Maybe they put enough rebels in jail for smoking or killed them off in some pointless war and a tipping point has been reached in that regard.
