That is a telling statement. Nearly saying let profits ride and cut loses. I didn't want a debate, just wondered how the out by close came into such vogue.

A favourite play of mine is to short a hot stock in late afternoon and covering just before close as all the "daytraders" sell and close out their positions for the day.
