I consider lawyers the single biggest problem for healthcare. We have to have tort reform.

It'll never happen. I went to a fundraiser for my Congressman a few years back during the big Obamacare crisis and asked him about tort reform. During the Bush years, tort reform efforts passed in the House, but were quickly shot down in the Senate, which, as you know, was controlled by the Republicans as well.

As long as our President is a lawyer and both houses of Congress are filled with them, the chances of seeing tort reform passed is essentially zero.

as the government takes more complete control of healthcare, the liability settlements that tort lawyers depend on are going to be legislated out of existence

I thought of it the other way.

First thing comes to mind is our prison system, 20 years of appeals, keeping lawyers billing hours on the public dole. Seems the judges, lawyers, and pols are all members of the same fraternity to me.
