IMO, it's their altruism that does them in. This is why conservatives and Libertarians have a problem.

I know you don't want any conspiracy theories here, but this is what I think. I think the republicans in power (who have been in WDC way too long) don't put dems on the offense when it comes to race and sex because they don't want to. They want this destructive meme to continue because in their hearts and minds they are liberals.


I don't think they are liberals so much as whatever they need to be to stay employed. It's an equilibrium situation where both sides have learned that if they lean into each other ideologically the game goes on. It affords them a very comfortable lifestyle. Nobodies interested in solutions, they are interested in keeping their very nice jobs. My bet is that if you could look in the heart of hearts of the vast majority of both republican and democratic representatives it's a cynical wasteland with no allegiance to any values other than they'll dance with the one who brung 'em.

And just for the record, now that I've been forced to get a fix on Ms. Rice, she's a sociopath.
