"I guess the States can make their own Tax rules and do not have to follow the Feds. " Apparently.There was not one peep out of anyone about this- not from Republicans or even the most rabid Teapartiers or libertarians. No one seems to get that we have already paid both state and federal taxes on the money in the Roth accounts.

When Michigan instituted a 4% State tax on ROTH withdraws did they also have a tax on the money converted from the IRA to the Roth?
