The successful always have a way of surviving. I don't care to be my brother's keeper if he is a lazy, profligate spendthrift. If I lived in the USA and had a few bucks I would make sure I had an iron clad escape plan to another jurisdiction.

The Idea of public service went out the window with the baby and the bathwater. Not saying there is something wrong with your idea of VVV but leadership most come from the top down. The only example from the top nowadays is naked princes cavorting in Las Vegas show suites.

Cecil Rhodes and James Bonds for Queen and Country sounds great in a book or a movie but it is a retired fantasy now all but gone down the gurgler. The self serve buffet is what is in fashion today. Regarding Eastern Europeans like Hasek they were never really considered the right sort by Anglo high brows and there is no getting around that.
