Read that as Capex growth.

Surely not discussed much anywhere.

I'd guess that leaves Samsung with its Austin fab all to itself for its larger market share in smart phones.

Smart phone exploding in unit count as the much maligned PC growth at a paltry 2% spells many more chips as the unit count goes almost exponential with growth in all sub PC sectors.

PC
Tablets
Smartphones

All growth markets.

Surely would never have thought it possible way back in 2000.That was when the PC box makers were going to go broke as PC's sold for less than $1000.00.

What a nice evolved market.

Bob

Then add autos as frosting.

TSM stock price has been very strong since the week ending 20 July when it closed at 12.65. Then during the week closing 27 July the stock price was 13.68. A full dollar plus gain based on their 2Q earnings report. Starting at the week closing 20 July, the stock price has been trending upward for the last 19 weeks including this week where it is now trading at 16.83(+33%).

With this nice gain in stock price, one would have expected a nice gain in earnings estimates for 2012 and 2013 as well. Not so - estimates on 20 July were 1.04 and 1.12. Today the estimates are 1.07 and 1.09. The fiscal year for 2012 for TSM closes at the end of December. Maybe the good news from the analysts will be factored in at that time.
